The Goo Goo Dolls played at the Red Hat Amphitheater August 23. It was a little humid for the show and if you were there for the opening band, you got a little wet from the rain. But that was all cleared up by the time the Goo Goo Dolls hit the stage. As I hit the photo pit, there must have been a little inside joke going on. Seems there was a sign on the stage floor to point John to the audience.
Formed in Buffalo, NY in 1986 by John Rzeznik (lead vocalist & guitarist), Robby Takac (bassist & vocalist), and George Tutuska (ex-drummer). The band released their first album, Goo Goo Dolls in 1987 but did not win their first music awards for the song “Slide” in 2000 at the ASCAP Pop Awards for Pop Song of the Year.
The current members are only two of the originals; John Rzeznik (vocalist & guitarist), Robby Takac (bassist & vocalist). Current touring musicians are; Brad Fernquist (guitar, backing vocals), Korel Tunador (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals) and Craig Macintyre (drums, backing vocals).
