Before last night’s show at Red Hat Amphitheater, I only knew one song from Rainbow Kitten Surprise.

I feel like RKS gave me and all their first time concertgoers the surprise. I didn’t expect this kind of performance out of this tight knit band from Boone, NC.

It was obvious they were enjoying themselves. The whole group of RKS had their own original vibe and great interaction with the crowd.

Sam Melo, lead singer, especially had a great stage presence and high energy throughout the show. He danced, crawled around and at times acted like he was performing in a modern day dance at a gypsy, bohemian carnival.

Late in the show Sam said this was the biggest crowd they’ve ever played for.

They did at least 5 encore songs when we left at 10:52. Most everyone stayed until the end and it seemed everyone knew the words to their songs as they sang along.

Their light and laser show was also an unexpected treat. RKS has a following of loyal fans and I see why. I would definitely recommend going to see them if their tour stops in your town.
